A Taste of Southern Spain, 197 Gertrude St Fitzroy

A Spanish Restaurant on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy

Tucked into the heart of Fitzroy, Añada is a Spanish restaurant in Melbourne inspired by the flavours and traditions of Andalusia.

From our home at 197 Gertrude Street, we serve generous, produce-led tapas designed for sharing, alongside thoughtful wines and warm hospitality.

Inside, exposed brick, soft light, tables drawn close and vinyl spinning behind the bar create a space that feels lively yet intimate. Come with friends for a glass of wine, plates to share, or enjoy an evening at one of the most romantic restaurants in Melbourne.

As an iconic Spanish restaurant on Gertrude Street, Añada has been welcoming locals, visitors, first dates and familiar faces for more than 15 years. We’re proud to still be here, doing what we’ve always loved – good food, good wine and genuine hospitality.

Our Story

Añada takes its name from the Spanish word for a year's harvest – a nod to seasonality and the produce that shapes the way we cook.

Our menu draws on the peasant food of Andalusia in Southern Spain, reimagined around the best Australian produce we can get our hands on. Traditional Spanish technique runs through the kitchen. We slow-cook, char-grill and cure for a menu of Tapas, charcuterie and paella to share.  For those happy to leave the decisions to us, our chef's tasting menu features the best of everything we have to offer.

On our drinks list, you’ll find Spanish wine, sherry and spirits, each chosen to accompany the food.

We consider ourselves to be one of the best Spanish restaurants in Melbourne, and we’ve stayed true to our approach over the years: Quality, seasonal produce with a deep respect for Spanish cooking at the heart.

Tapas, Paella and More

Our menu is made for sharing. Start with a few plates, add larger dishes for the table, or settle in over a paella with friends.
From small plates to long lunches and dinners that stretch into the evening, it’s our take on Spanish food in Melbourne, always portioned generously, with seasonal ingredients, and best enjoyed together.
On Saturdays and Sundays, we open from midday for lunch in Fitzroy.
